- 그 당시 가격은 $47000(현재 가격으로 조정해보면 $512866 - 6억7천만원) 에 362kg   
- 사람들은 소형 컴퓨터로 인식했음 (111cm x 83cm x 66cm 정도의 작은 책상 크기)  
- 113개의 진공관, 1450개의 Solid-state 다이오드, 회전 자기드럼 메모리(3700RPM으로 회전하는 16cm 직경의 17.8cm 튜브)  
- 4069개의 31비트 워드 저장 가능(요즘의 15.8KB에 해당)  
- 그의 할아버지는 60년대에 토목 공학 계산을 위해 그걸 사용했고, 그걸 개인적으로 소유한 소수의 사람 중 한명

- 1983년도에 USENET에 올라왔던 유명한 글  
- 초기 해커에 대한 영웅담 처럼 기록되어 종종 인용됨   
- LGP-30 위에서 포트란 같은거 쓰지 않고, 기계어로 직접 코딩을 하던 Mel 에 대한 이야기   
- 그가 손으로 기계어와 어드레스를 이용해 짠 코드는 최적화된 어셈블러들보다 훨씬 더 빨랐음   
- 컴퓨터쇼의 부스에서 사용할 블랙잭 프로그램을 기계어로 짜고 수정하던 그가 회사를 떠난 뒤, 그의 코드를 분석하며 놀랐던 사람이 적은 글
