[Tailscale의 구조](https://tailscale.com/blog/how-tailscale-works/)는 control plane (중앙화된 node 탐색 서비스)와 data plane(비중앙화된 P2P 통신 서비스)로 구성됨 -> 중앙화된 관리, 레이턴시 최소화 외에도 큰 비용 절감 효과  
  
SaaS 회사에서 주로 지출하게 되는 3가지 비용: 제품 개발, 영업, 판매된 제품의 유지 비용  
  
유지 비용 (Cost of goods sold, COGS)은 Tailscale 지출의 대부분을 차지함 -> control plane의 스케일링과 운영, [DERP](https://tailscale.com/kb/1118/custom-derp-servers/?q=derp#what-are-derp-servers) 네트워크의 스케일링과 운영, 고객 지원  
  
Control plane의 사용 리소스(footprint)와 DERP 대신 가능한 많은 시나리오에서 P2P 통신을 사용하여 앞 2개의 비용을 최적화함

Tailscale 정말 좋아요!  
  
유지비용 최소화는 SaaS들이 오래동안 버틸수 있게 하는데 정말 중요한 요소라고 생각합니다.  
스타트업이 처음에 일단 MVP를 만드는게 중요하다고는 하지만, 그 MVP 자체도 비용이 적게 들게 만드는 것도 경쟁력.   
그래서 다각도로 공부해봤거나, 이런 저런 경험 많은 사람을 조인 시키는게 스타트업에 큰 도움이 됩니다.
