- 8년반 전에 찾은 메르센 소수인 M(57885161)에 대해서 그 이하의 모든 숫자들을 더블체크하여 48번째 메르센 소수임을 확인

- 메르센 소수 : "2의 n승 - 1" 로 표현 되는 소수. n도 소수

ㅤ→ M(57885161) = 2⁵⁷⁸⁸⁵¹⁶¹ - 1

ㅤ→ 17,425,170개 자리수

- 49번째 M(74207917), 50번째 M(77232917), 51번째 M(82589933) 메르센 소수들도 발견은 되었으나 아직 검증이 완료되지 않음

ㅤ→ 2018년 12월 7일에 발견된 M(82589933)은 자리수만 24,862,048개

ㅤ→ 메르센 소수 29번째가 30/31번째를 찾은 이후에 발견 되었던 경우도 있어서 중간에 있는 숫자들을 다 검증하는 단계를 두는 것

- GIMPS : Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search 에 의해 발견 및 검증 됨
