- 어째서 야망있고 똑똑한 사람들 중 대다수가 자신이 장기적으로 야망이나 비전을 지니지 않은 업계(잘못된 언덕, wrong hill)에 남아 시간을 낭비하는가?  
  
- 인간은 현재 위치에서 내려가는 것을 싫어하고, 자신이 다음에 내딛을 발걸음이 반드시 위로 향하는 것이기를 바라는 본성이 있기에, 지금 오르고 있는 언덕이 가장 높은 것이 아니더라도 일단 오르는 것이다.  
  
- 가장 높은 언덕을 찾고 오르고 싶다면, 처음에는 무작위적으로 다양한 실험을 해볼 필요가 있다. 그러다가 가장 높은 언덕이 무엇인지 찾아냈다면, 지금 오르고 있는 언덕이 있다 하더라도 과감하게 내려와서 가장 높은 언덕을 오르기 시작하라.
